The Colorado Child Fatality Prevention System (CFPS) has been reviewing cases and collecting data on child deaths in Colorado since 1989 and entering data into the National Fatality Review-Case Reporting System since 2004. With over 10 years of quality data, the system has an opportunity to analyze data over time to identify significant trends and patterns in child deaths and better understand what might be done to prevent child deaths in the future. This brief takes a look back over the last 10 years to highlight successes and identify next steps.
